WHAT IS HISTORY?
- Story of the Past: History is like a big story about everything that happened in the past.
- It includes important events, such as wars and inventions, and everyday life, like what people wore and what they ate.
- Learning from the Past: History is also about learning from what happened before.
- By understanding the past, we can better understand the present and make decisions about the future.
TYPES OF SOURCES IN HISTORY
PRIMARY SOURCES
WHAT THEY ARE:
- THINGS THAT WERE CREATED OR MADE DURING THE TIME PERIOD BEING STUDIED.
EXAMPLES:
- LETTERS
- DIARIES
SECONDARY SOURCES
WHAT THEY ARE:
- THESE ARE FIRSTHAND ACCOUNTS OR MATERIALS CREATED DURING THE SPECIFIC HISTORICAL PERIOD BEING INVESTIGATED. THEY CAN BE WRITTEN DOCUMENTS LIKE DIARIES, LETTERS, OR OFFICIAL RECORDS. ADDITIONALLY, ARCHAEOLOGICAL ARTIFACTS, ARTWORK, AND EVEN ARCHITECTURE CAN BE CONSIDERED PRIMARY SOURCES.

Material Sources:
- These are things from the past that you can touch or see.
- Examples include artifacts, buildings, tools, clothes, and art.
Non-material Sources:
- These are things from the past that you cannot touch or see directly.
- Examples include stories, traditions, songs, and beliefs.
